The late Edie and Charlie Seashore (foundational OD practitioners) once described feedback as:  "Information about past behavior, delivered in the present, which MAY [emphasis added] influence future behavior."  This presentation will help participants learn to provide feedback that WILL influence the behavior of others.  It also will help participants learn to solicit feedback as a means of managing their own professional and career development.

Participants who attend the session will be able to:

  • Learn to use the Seashores' principles of feedback
  • Understand and be able to apply a three-step model of feedback and coaching
  • Understand and be able to integrate active listening skills into the processes used for giving and receiving feedback

This great program is sponsored by ASTD and offered by Bob Hartl an Associate Professor of Management at the College of St. Scholastica and the 2011 recipient of the Max H. Lavine Award for Teaching Excellence.

Professor Hartl’s expertise includes organization development (OD), process consultation, organizational behavior, & human resource management.  Bob is senior partner in Hartl Pearson Consulting and especially enjoys helping people understand and use the principles of planned change. Prior to his role with the College, Bob was Vice President of Human Resources & Organization Development for St. Mary’s/Duluth Clinic Health System.  Before that, he was the Chief Administrative Officer (City Administrator) for the City of Duluth, an organization he also had served for 15 years as its Human Resources Manager.
