This Won't Hurt A Bit: Design and Deliver Training with the Reluctant Participant in Mind

Have you ever had a training go poorly because attendees were required to be there? Ever asked a question you expected to spark conversation and have the room go silent? This active workshop will provide the opportunity to think about course design and delivery through the eyes of attendees who'd rather not be there, or who'd rather not participate. We'll reflect on our own styles and learn to adapt in design and delivery.

Objectives:.

• Design a training that is welcoming to participants at all interest levels
• Design training activities that account for participants' individual personalities and learning style
• Apply tips for training delivery when participants are resistant.

Jerritt Johnston

Jerritt Johnston is the owner of True North Consultants, a leadership development and organizational consulting business. He holds a Master’s Degree in Education and has spent his professional career training individuals and facilitating organizational growth. He has held leadership positions in for-profit and non-profit organizations and he brings that unique experience to his training. Jerritt is an ultra-endurance athlete and a seasonal wild-land firefighter. He loves spending time with his family in the woods and on the lakes around his home in Ely, MN, no matter the season.
